Bellowing Emperor

Fuu Dogs have been my favorite mythological creature for many, many years. It's why I give an attempt to paint them annually. It's a good way to see what I've learned in the prior year and give myself enjoyable yet familiar material.

So I must admit when I started this sketch today on my lunch break I had no idea I'd be up completing it the same night. It has been a silly dream of mine to make my own pair of these critters, and this is much closer to how I visualize them than most of the existing statues I see. Perhaps I'm taking the lion-dog thing a little too literally for proper interpretation, but I like it.

Many thanks goes to Geop and his crew for recording the Dark Souls LP that I listened to while I did this. I think I may be a year behind though. Hahah, oops. Better late finding comedy gold than never.
